Addressing a press conference here, the State secretary of the Students Federation of India (SFI), T.V. Rajesh, said the move was aimed at denying organisational freedom to students within college campuses and would lead to the violation of democratic values and Constitutional rights. The college campuses would be controlled by a section of people with vested interests in the wake of this ban, he pointed out. Speaking at the press conference, the KSU State president, P.C. Vishnunadh, said the High Court verdict would only help to give an upper hand to the managements, who, on several occasions, had tried to act against the wishes of students. The joint council has also decided to observe June 9 as `Campus democracy protection day' and would organise protests against the court verdict. The State secretary of the AISF, V.P. Unnikrishnan, the State secretary of the ABVP, V. Harikrishnan, the State president of MSF, Sadiq Ali, the NSC State president, Mujib Rehman, and the State president of KSC(J), Jijo George, were among those who attended the press conference.
