TDP activist's house blasted

By Our Special Correspondent

TIRUPATI May 31. Naxalites belonging to the People's War today blasted the house of a TDP worker-cum-contractor in Bodevandlapalle village coming under the Yerravaripalem police limits in the naxal-infested Piler constituency, 45 km from here.

Sources said that a ten-member dalam which comprised four women too arrived at the house of the contractor, Bhoomireddy Subramanyam Reddy, at 2.30 a.m. and four of them trooped into his ancestral building once he opened the door while the rest stood guard outside. The ultras were then said to have told Mr. Reddy that they had come to blast his house in retaliation to the alleged fake-encounter of their fellow cadres recently near Rayachoti on the Chittoor-Cuddapah border.

The naxalites then forced the contractor, his wife and the servant maid away from the house and placed a bucket bomb inside it. They then exploded it using a remote control device. The ultras left the three unharmed and gave them a letter saying that the blast was a reprisal to the "fake'' Cuddapah encounter.

With the news about the blast trickling down, police including special parties swung into action and started a pre-dawn combing of the thick Talakona forests around the Yerravaripalem mandal.
