About 25 heavily armed attackers entered the village around 1 a.m., put off the power supply and attacked their target. The attackers were allegedly led by Rammohan Reddy, Ravindra Reddy, Venugopal Reddy and Srinivasulu. The deceased were identified as B. Mallikarjuna (35), MPTC member, his cousin Seenappa (25), uncle Narayanappa (44), and another cousin, Ashok (14). All the four died on the spot. According to the police, there has been rivalry between Kurubas and Besthas since 1991 over a petty issue of missing lambs. Since then 15 persons have been killed so far.
