Letters to the Editor
Sir, I was totally foxed by a report by your special correspondent ( May 28 ) of an interview with the Minister of State for Railways, A.K. Moorthy, that one of the projects being closely monitored by the Ministry is the Manamadurai-Madurai-Rameswaram BG link as the President of India (by name!) is personally interested in getting a BG link to his home town of Rameswaram. The President is supreme and no one should drag his name into muddy politics. Fortunately, after a long time, we have a President who is not from the political field. Knowing the Railways as I do, the President is not the person to indulge in these kind of affairs and the Minister has to understand his role properly. I hope that Nitish Kumar and the PMO take note of this.
R. Narasimhan,
