CPI(M) wants Advani to quit

By Our Special Correspondent

New Delhi June 1. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has demanded that the ``chargesheeted'' Union Ministers — the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, and the Human Resources Development Minister, Murli Manohar Joshi — resign from the Government.

The demand has been made in the context of the Central Bureau of Investigation filing a supplementary chargesheet against the two (besides others) in the special court at Rae Bareli in the Ayodhya Babri Masjid Demolition case.

In a statement, the party politburo has noted that the continuation of these Ministers ``is untenable'' after the supplementary chargesheet.

The BJP has been laughing off the cases against Mr. Advani and Dr. Joshi as politically motivated, carrying no moral odium on the two leaders.
