Narayana Murthy on Asia Business Council board

NEW DELHI JUNE 3. The Hong Kong-based Asia Business Council, a non-profit consortium of 43 business leaders, today announced the appointment of the Infosys Chairman, N. R. Narayana Murthy, to the Council's Board of Trustees.

In a statement issued here today, the board's chairman, Ronnie C. Chan, who is chairman of the Hang Lung group in Hong Kong said, "the addition of Mr. Narayana Murthy reflects the respect we have for him as a business leader but also the importance of India as a crucial player in our region.''

Regarding his appointment, Mr. Narayana Murthy said India must be fully engaged with the rest of Asia allowing its voice to be heard and at the same time fostering closer partnerships and understanding with out Asian countries. "I am eager to provide my thoughts on how the Asia Business Council can best contribute to dialogue on issues that affect all Asian businesses,'' he said.
