Southern Tourism Ministers' meet

HYDERABAD June 5. The second South India Tourism Ministers conference began here today with the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, emphasising the joint marketing of Southern States as a single tourism destination and a combined effort for getting the Centre's approval for open sky policy. The Tourism Ministers of Kerala and Pondicherry, K. V. Thomas and K. Laxminarayanan, and top Tourism department officials from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andaman and Nicobar Islands are attending the conference.

The Kerala Tourism Minister, Prof. Thomas who proposed the formation of the South India Tourism Council, said attempts made by individual States in promotion and development of tourism would yield better results if supplemented and complemented by the neighbouring States in a coordinated manner.

The Pondicherry Tourism Minister, Mr. Laxminarayanan, who supported the joint efforts, wanted inclusion of Yanam in the proposed inter-State tourism circuit.
