PATHUM THANI, Thailand, june 6. Uzbekistan sprinter Khubbieva Guzel ended Olympic medallist Susanthika Jayasinghe's dominance with an upset win in the women's 100 metres at Thammasat Rangsit Main Stadium in the third meet of the Asian Grand Prix series. Guzel was quick off the blocks and finished in 11.30 seconds. Jayasinghe, who won the 100 at the first two meets in India and Sri Lanka, was 0.01 behind in second place with Thailand's Oranuch Klomdee third. ``I had a poor start and that's what accounts for my loss. Still, I'm happy with my time,'' said Jayasinghe, who won a bronze medal at the Sydney 2000 Olympics and was a silver medallist at the 1997 World athletic championships in Athens. ``I think my prospects of winning the gold in the final and fourth leg in Manila on June 9 are still bright,'' said the 27-year-old runner. * The results: Men:100m: 1.
