Bal Bhavan organises rally

NEW DELHI JUNE 5. Like every year, this year too the National Bal Bhavan organised a rally on the occasion of the World Environment Day. This year's theme was "Natural Resources'' in keeping with the theme "Give Earth A Chance''. The rally was flagged off by the acting High Commissioner of Trinidad & Tobago, Tedwin Herbert, who also planted a sapling. About 5,000 children from National Bal Bhavan and Jawahar Bal Bhavan Mandi (rural unit of NBB) took part in the rally taking pledge of environment conservation.

In his welcome speech, the Director, National Bal Bhavan, P.K. Mohanty, spoke on the origin of World Environment Day. He said the purpose of the rally was to instil a spirit for nature conservation. He emphasised Bal Bhavan's effort to save the environment and spread awareness among the masses. This was followed by a signature campaign by children for natural resources conservation by children of the publication section.

jay Singh, Chairperson, National Bal Bhavan,in his speech spoke of the commitment of Bal Bhavan's children and staff for environmental causes. He concluded by saying that the theme of this year's World Environment Day was give Earth a chance but "I also say give children a chance to build their own world so that the Earth may have a chance too''.
