Genuine doubts

Sir, — This refers to the article Indo-Pak. talks and Rawalpindi by C. Raja Mohan, (June 5), which raised some serious flaws in having talks with Pakistan at present. To those individuals who nurture high hopes the article proved to be an eye-opener.

Until there is certainty about the worth of signing any agreement with

the Pakistani Prime Minister, it would be another futile attempt. The writer has pointed out the problems that need to be understood by not just the intellectuals of India and Pakistan, but the rest of the world. Before mounting pressure on India for holding the talks, the power and potential of the counterpart must be taken into account.

Sandeep Datta,
New Delhi
