Air quality monitoring stations

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD June 6. Two online ambient air quality-monitoring stations that can measure weather and air pollution are being installed near the Punjagutta police station and the K.B.R. National Park, Banjara Hills, shortly.

One of these stations was inaugurated by the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, at a function held to mark the World Environment Day on Thursday. The system, designed and developed by the Spectrochem Instruments, posts weather data, as temperature, relative humidity, wind direction and speed. This is along with air pollution data such as sulphur dioxide, nitrous oxide, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, hydrogen sulphide, ozone, mercaptan, particulate matter and noise.

It is a stand-alone station and runs on very low power and it can be connected through solar power panels. It collects data every 15 minutes and sends it to the central server at the AP Pollution Control Board office through web.
