Firefighters struggle to control flames rising from an apartment block in the Fairfax area of Los Angeles on Friday in this image from television, after a small plane nose-dived into the complex, setting the three-storey building ablaze. Five persons in the building were critically injured. AP
The body of a building occupant was found under burning debris, the Deputy Fire Chief, Mario Rueda, said. The body believed to be that of the pilot was found in the plane wreckage. The plane plunged through the two floors of apartment units to the ground-floor garage. AP
