Taiwan reported three more SARS cases but officials said the latest outbreak would be brought under control soon and expressed hopes that the World Health Organisation would lift a travel warning against the island next week. SARS has killed 781 people and infected more than 8,300 in two dozen countries worldwide, but officials in Asia the hardest-hit region say declining numbers of deaths and new cases are evidence that the crisis is easing. In Hong Kong, a 57-year-old man died on Sunday, the Government said, bringing the toll there to 287 with the number of infections unchanged at 1,752. Most of those infected have been released from hospitals. China's fatality occurred in Beijing, bringing the mainland's death toll to 339 . The number of reported cases has fallen steadily from a high of more than 150 a day at the beginning of May to single digits this month. Taiwan's three new cases followed a new cluster of infections at Taipei's Yangming Hospital, but there were no new fatalities. The island has reported 676 cases of SARS and 81 . Ireland on Saturday agreed to a proposal by Hong Kong to let its athletes compete in the Special Olympics so long as it quarantines its entire delegation for 10 days starting on Monday. The competition starts on June 21 in Dublin. AP
