According to the G.N.C. Station house officer, Anjaneyulu, the deceased were identified as T. Radhakrishna (50), his wife P. Prabhavathi (40) and daughter Priya (9), and were believed to be native of Poonamallee, Chennai. Preliminary investigations revealed that the family took the extreme step, unable to clear debts. The incident came to light, when a TTD attender, during his routine rounds in the evening, found the cottage bolted from inside and the lights turned off. Suspecting something wrong, he repeatedly knocked on the doors of the cottage but on receiving no response immediately alerted his higher-ups, who in turn informed the police. The police, who recovered a telephone diary from the place, immediately contacted the relatives of the deceased.
