Surie is new envoy to China

BEIJING JUNE 8. Nalin Surie, career diplomat, will be India's new Ambassador to China in place of Shivashankar Menon, who has been posted as the country's High Commissioner to Pakistan. Mr. Surie at present holds the post of an Additional Secretary in the External Affairs Ministry. China has cleared the appointment of Mr. Surie, Foreign Ministry sources said.
