Letters to the Editor
Sir, __ R. Parthasarathi who passed away last week will kindle fond memories in colleagues who had worked with him. He served The Hindu with distinction for over three decades, including as its News Editor. Thorough in national and international affairs, he was uncanny in his assessment of news and spotting seemingly trifling incidents that soon would develop into events with far-reaching repercussions. For his extraordinary news sense, he earned the respect and admiration of his team at the desk. Even from his cloistered cabin, he bubbled with energy and triggered enthusiasm and made the news hall respond instantly. He was full of humanity and innovative in news presentation. He was many-sided. As News Editor, he was a source of guidance and inspiration. A colleague who wrote a good copy, gave a sparkling heading or made an excellent and artistic page layout could be sure of a pat from him. I enjoyed the privilege of working with him and treasure my association with "M.P" who was a fervent nationalist and ardent admirer of Satyamurthi. R. Ramachandran, Chennai
