A 61-year-old veteran of World War I, Major Christopher Draper (called `Mad Major') flew a light aeroplane under 15 bridges of the river Thames in London, staying barely above the surface of the water to prove that he was still fit enough to work and fly. Summons were delivered to him from court, charging him with "flying in a manner to cause unnecessary danger to persons and property".
