Supply fodder at half price, Govt. urged

By Our Staff Correspondent

HASSAN JUNE 9. H.D.Revanna, former minister and Chairman of the Hassan Milk Federation, has urged the State Government to dispense fodder at half price to farmers in view of drought for three years in a row.

Inaugurating a milk producers' cooperative society in Chapebyadarahalli in Channarayapatna taluk on Sunday, he said farmers in the State were suffering because of the drought and the State Government had not taken any measures to supply fodder to farmers. He urged the Chief Minister, S.M.Krishna, to chalk out a programme to distribute fodder at 50 per cent of the cost price.

Mr. Revanna criticised the Hassan MP, G.Puttaswamy Gowda, for not taking the initiative in attending to the problems of farmers and alleged that the MP was getting tanks filled with silt while the Government had directed the district administration to remove silt from tanks.

C.S.Putte Gowda, former MLA, said that except the former prime minister, H.D.Deve Gowda, no other MP representing the State was raising issues pertaining to land and water in Parliament.

Referring to rumours that the JD(S) MLC, B.V.Kari Gowda, would join the Congress, he said the MLC had been playing a game of "snakes and ladders" and nobody had taken it seriously. C.N.Balakrishna, zilla panchayat member, P.Devaraje Gowda, President of the JD(S) taluk unit, and H.S.Srikantappa, party leader, were present.
