Union Ministers from State causing maximum harm: RJD

PATNA JUNE 9. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) today alleged that the "zeal' shown by Union Ministers from Bihar to get themselves 'well covered' by the media through propaganda had caused Bihar the maximum harm.

Castigating Union Minister for Civil Aviation Rajeev Pratap Rudy for his ``media-centric'' style of functioning, senior RJD leader and Bihar Energy Minister Shakeel Ahmed Khan alleged that the misinformation campaign launched by Mr Rudy on Sheetalpur sub- station was intended only at grabbing newspaper columns and get his photograph published.

``Union Ministers from Bihar preferred to get themselves covered well by media instead of working for the development of the state,'' Mr Khan observed.

Objecting to the ``false'' statement made by Mr Rudy that the state government was dilly dallying on signing the MOU for execution of Sheetalpur sub-station in Saran district, Mr Khan said the state government had signed MOU with the Centre on February 18, 2003 itself and the union minister's statement emanated only because the latter had been a victim of ``false inflated ego''.

Mr Khan said Mr Rudy was only misleading the people of Bihar on the issue, claiming that the delay in the implementation of the project was owing to conflicts between the Planning Commission and the Union Power Ministry as they had to decide which agency would finance the sub-station. — UNI
