Rupee edges down

MUMBAI JUNE 9. The rupee closed marginally weak against the U.S. dollar on the interbank foreign exchange here today due to good dollar demand from corporates and importers.

The Indian currency opened on a somewhat steady note at 46.87/89 a dollar, but nosedived to the intra-day low of 46.92/46.94 due heavy dollar demand. Later, the rupee managed to recover some of the early losses and ended at 46.88/89, still marginally lower than the previous close of 46.87/88. — PTI
