MYSORE JUNE 9. A four-member gang struck on the outskirts of the city early this morning and decamped with valuables worth Rs. 1.5 lakh.

The robberies took place around 3 a.m., with the gang raiding eight houses and a factory on T. Narsipura Road before disappearing under the cover of darkness. The gang broke into the Kapila Spun Construction Pipe Factory located at Kempaiahanahundi, about 18 km. from the city, and later targeted a series of houses located on the factory premises.

Police, quoting the residents, said all the four persons wore masks and were armed with lethal weapons. They reportedly bundled up people in the houses into a room and locked it before moving on to their next target.

The gang first broke into the house of Vasanth and forced him to part with his valuables. Later, they raided the other houses.

Apparently, the gang had studied the topography well as they carried out the operations in a coordinated manner.

They also disconnected the power supply and cut the telephone cables to prevent the residents from informing the police.

Some dogs were found unconscious, and it is suspected that the gang had drugged the animals. Senior police officials including the Superintendent of Police, K.H. Sreenivasan, and the Additional Superintendent of Police, Phaninder Singh, visited the spot.
