During its internal analysis, the TRAI also noted that a number of tariff packages combine monthly recurring charges with relatively low call charges. As a result the effective call charge paid by the subscriber is more than the amount indicated as call charges. The intention is to direct companies to present the packages in a manner that will help customers to be better aware of the overall financial expenditure incurred under a particular tariff package. The new format should also help consumers compare various tariff packages being advertised. The TRAI has also hosted a model tariff table on its website and sought feedback from subscribers within two weeks.
