By Our Staff Reporter

MADURAI JUNE 9. The sixth judicial magistrate, K. Vanitha, today issued orders, permitting the city police to conduct search operations in the house of M.K. Azhagiri, son of the former Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi.

Disposing of a petition filed by S. Murugesan, investigation officer in the Kiruttinan murder case, the magistrate directed that the search be conducted in the presence of Mr. Azhagiri's wife and an officer not below the rank of tahsildar.

Similar orders were issued late this evening to search the houses the former Aavin (Madurai and Theni units) chairman, P.M. Mannan, and the DMK functionary, S.R. Gobi. The three were arrested in connection with the May 20 murder of former DMK Minister here.

Meanwhile, Ms. Vanitha remanded Ibrahim Sulaiman Sait, a suspected assailant of Kiruttinan, to judicial custody till June 23. The police, who had sought his custodial interrogation for four days, produced him in the court today, police sources said.
