For its proximity to the district court complex, the Chengalpattu Medical College ground had been identified to house the new law college, he said. A Bar Council of India team would inspect the premises shortly. The college was likely to start on August 1. On its part, the university already commenced two full-time post-graduate law courses Business Law and Constitution & Legal Order. Another course, through distance education, Bachelor of Academic Law, was on the anvil. It was a comprehensive course aiming at imparting knowledge of law. Earlier, the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, laid the foundation for a Rs. 1.14-crore complex, which would house five classrooms of the School of Excellence in Law, a library, a staff room, etc. Work on the 4,000-square foot building would commence within a month as the tender process was already on, said Mr. Audiseshan.
Quarters for Coast Guard
The Chief Minister also inaugurated 152 residential flats for Coast Guard personnel at J.J.Nagar, Mogappair West. At a function, which lasted eight minutes, she unveiled a plaque.
