Tamil Nadu-Chennai
By Our Staff Reporter
Last month, Narayanan submitted an appeal to the City Police Commissioner, who directed that fresh investigations be launched. According to sources, old files of habitual offenders began to be perused. They picked up Peer Mohammed, a fish vendor who belonged to Arakkonam, recently and interrogated him. Peer Mohammed, who had already been detained four times under the Goondas Act, had burgled the house and pledged the stolen jewels with a pawn broker in Tiruvallur. A police team went to Thiruvallur and were able to retrieve 27 sovereigns and restored it to Narayanan. Peer Mohammed had struck at several houses at Poonamallee, Kilpauk, Nungambakkam and Choolaimedu areas.
