Not only the land but even the police station building has been given to the police `without any consideration' by N. Manohar Goud, against whom three criminal cases were booked, ironically, by the Serilingampally police. Charges against Manohar include cheating, criminal trespass, criminal intimidation, wrongful confinement to extort property and voluntarily causing hurt. A resident of Miyapur, Manohar allegedly sold plots with fake sale deeds to APSRTC employees a couple of years ago. One of the employees, B. Gangadhar Reddy, of Madhuranagar, lodged a complaint with the police in this connection. Subsequently, a case (crime no. 159 of 2002) of cheating, criminal trespass and criminal intimidation was booked against Manohar. A few months later, a resident of Balamrai, approached the police charging that the accused had sold plots in S.Nos. 47, 48 and 49 of Serilingampally mandal with fake documents and another case (crime No. 207 of 2002) was registered. Meanwhile, Mr. Gangadhar moved court and got directions in his favour over the piece of land sold by Manohar. However, when he went to the site with the court orders, the accused and his accomplices allegedly intimidated and attacked him. The police booked another criminal case against Manohar in this connection following a complaint by Mr. Gangadhar. Manohar was arrested in all the three cases and was later released on bail. Earlier, he was sanctioned a conditional bail pertaining to another criminal case under the Kukatpally police station limits. "The police department has very little to do with acquiring land and building for the police station. It is up to the Government to provide infrastructure," a Cyberabad Police Commissionerate officer said. While launching the `Operation Fight Land Grabbing', a special drive to nail land grabbers, the Cyberabad police higher-ups boasted of displaying photos of those accused in land grabbing cases in the police stations. But, the paradoxical situation of the police operating from a place given by an accused leaves a lot to be desired.
