Water problem

Sir, — Every year in summer, we see photographs in newspapers showing people standing in queues to fetch just a bucket of water or women going miles from their home in search of water.

After more than half-century of Independence, it is shameful that the Governments have failed to provide its citizens one of the basic needs, water. On the other hand, it is ironical to see the leaders attending various international summits and conferences to discuss problems such as terrorism, unemployment etc.

Jyoti Krishan Verma,

New Delhi
