In a statement here today, Mr. Premachandran said the undue interest taken by the Industries Minister and the Industries Special Secretary to formulate the State's mining policy to the suit the interests of a private company and grant mining lease to the company through illegitimate ways was intriguing. The RSP MP recalled that the Industries Minister and the Industries Special Secretary had even gone to the extent of saying that grant of mining lease to the private company would be more in keeping with the State's interests. The KPCC decision not to go in for privatisation of mineral sand-mining was a victory for the struggle that had been going on in the area for the last two years against the privatisation of mining, he said. Mr. Premachandran said the Industries Minister had no right to remain in office after what he had done to undermine the public sector units that had been earning crores of rupees for the State exchequer.
