Kerala Congress(M) and the BJP once again came to the fore today with the election of the BJP member, A.K. Sathyan, as vice-president of the UDF-led Kozhencherry grama panchayat, with the KC(M)'s support. The KC(M) and the BJP have three members each in the 10-member grama panchayat committee led by Victor T. Thomas, former Kerala Youth Front(M) chairman and the Serifed chairman. The LDF has got only four members in the panchayat committee. Mr. Victor became the panchayat president with the BJP support two-and-a-half years ago. Today's elections to the post of vice-president was necessitated following the resignation of Binu Prasad of the BJP. Meanwhile, the IFDP district unit here in a statement alleged that the KC(M) leader and Revenue Minster, K.M. Mani, was `criticising' the BJP to `please' the other UDF partners while he was `colluding' with the BJP for electoral gains.
