Victory for CPI(M)

KOLKATA JUNE 11. The Trinamool Congress, its poll ally BJP, as also the Congress, suffered a rude jolt in the by-elections for the Nabadwip (SC) Lok Sabha and Vidyasagar Assembly seats in West Bengal held on Sunday.

The CPI (M) wrested the Nabadwip (SC) Parliamentary seat in Nadia district from the Trinamool and also retained the Vidyasagar Assembly constituency, upsetting the applecart of the Congress by 22,829 votes.

Meanwhile, the Congress today bagged all the three Assembly seats — Bharmour, Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur — in Himachal Pradesh, elections for which were held on June 8, while the BJP bit the dust in all the 3 seats.
