Consumer panel website launched

HYDERABAD June 13. The Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, Devinder Gupta, inaugurated the website of the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (APSCDRC) at a simple function here on Friday. Hosted at http//: scdrp.ap.nic.in/ the website provides information regarding the rights of consumers, the status of various cases and other information.

Mr. Justice Gupta complimented the Commission for starting the first website for consumer disputes redressal in the country and said that this merely confirmed Andhra Pradesh's position as a pioneer in application of IT in the judicial system. He suggested that the Commission should now work towards establishing online links with district consumer forums so that efficiency and speed are achieved in dealing with grievances.

The president of the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, D.P. Wadhwa, complimented the staff of National Informatics Centre for creating, uploading and starting the website in less than two days. He said that with the high levels of IT competence in India, much could be further done for computerisation of the judicial system.

The Chairman, Law Commission of India, M. Jagannadha Rao, was present on the occasion and spoke about his experiences with applying IT to the judicial system.

The president, APSCDRC, P. Ramakrishnam Raju, welcomed.
