Wipro bagged the third best software exporter award with exports worth Rs. 1,720.87 crores. TCS had an export revenue of Rs. 2,657.41 crores in 2001-02 while Infosys recorded software and services exports of Rs. 2,450.35 crores. The awards, instituted by the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), the Union Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, were given away by the President, A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, here. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kalam said the IT industry should aim for $100 billion business over the next decade from the current $10 billion. "Growth in IT is proportional to innovation and resources and we should aim for graduating IT into knowledge product," he said, adding the IT Department should look at VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) as a method of offering cost-effective and quality connectivity tool to the masses.
