The Bangladesh team will leave on June 22, the Board said. The side is scheduled to play two Tests and three limited-overs matches against Australia. The team will be captained by allrounder Khaled Mahmud, who replaced Mashud early this year after Bangladesh's dismal World Cup performance in South Africa. Mashud was dropped from the side which played and lost two Tests and three one-dayers against South Africa in March and April. Five fast bowlers have been included in the team as the Australian pitches generally favour quick bowlers. Bangladesh's new coach, Dav Whatmore, was among the four selectors. The Australian tour will be his first chance to try and boost a team that has not won a Test or a limited-overs match since gaining Test status in 2000. Whatmore, a Sri Lanka-born Australian, guided Sri Lanka to the 1996 World Cup as well as to the semifinals of the 2003 World Cup. The team: Khaled Mahmud (capt.), Javed Omar, Khaled Mashud (wicketkeeper), Habibul Bashar, Mohd. Rafique, Hannan Sarkar, Mohd. Ashraful, Al Shahriar, Manjural Islam, Alok Kapali, Sanawar Hossain, Tarek Aziz Khan, Mashrafee-bin-Murtaza, Tapash Kumar Baisya and Anwar Hossain Monir. Coach: Dav Whatmore. — AP
