CPI(M) pickets Water Board office

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD June 13. Traffic on the busy stretch from Lakdikapul to Khairatabad circle was reduced to a crawl for two hours on Friday when over 100 members of the city unit of the Communist Party of India- Marxist (CPI-M) picketed the Office of the Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board seeking regular water supply and better sewerage.

The Floor Leader of the party in the Legislative Assembly, Nomula Narasimhaiah said that though there was an uproar from the poorer sections of people in the city, demanding water, the Government was only issuing statement after statement, talking of Krishna water, instead of making the required arrangements. The Secretary, P.S.N. Murthy, said representations to the powers-that-be only fell on deaf ears. He alleged the Board was adopting double standards, going on to explain that there was never a shortage of supply or any related problem in the posh areas of the city.
