EPDP member shot dead

COLOMBO JUNE 15. Ponniah Ramachandran (42) of the anti-LTTE Eelam People's Democratic Party, was shot dead at point-blank range by "unidentified gunmen" in Sri Lanka's eastern Batticaloa around 11 a.m. today, the TamilNet has reported.

As a political operative in the EPDP office, he was preparing to contest an upcoming local council election.
