MCA applications invited

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM JUNE 16. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations(CEE) has invited applications from Indian nationals for admission to the Master of Computer Application(MCA) course in various AICTE-approved institutions in the State for the academic year 2003-04.

The course will lead to the award of MCA degree by Kerala, Calicut, Mahatma Gandhi, and Kannur universities. The duration of the course will be three academic years consisting of six semesters.

The candidates will be selected for admission through an entrance examination conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala, except for the NRI seats which will be filled up by the colleges concerned.

The entrance examination will be held on July 27 (Sunday) at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode. It will be of two hours duration and will consist of objective type questions covering the following areas, the standard being that of the graduate level- Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, General Knowledge, General English and fundamentals of computer science.

Details regarding qualification and other information can be had from the prospectus.

The application form can be obtained from the head post offices in the 14 district headquarters from June 18 onwards, on payment of Rs. 800(for general category) and Rs. 400 for the SC/ST categories. Those desiring applications will have to pay Rs. 50 extra and should write to the `Manager (Business Development), Office of the Chief Post Master General, Vikas Bhavan PO, Thiruvananthapuram-33. Only payments via money order will be accepted.

Filled-up application forms along with necessary documents mentioned in the prospectus should be forwarded to the CEE's office so as to reach on or before 5 p.m. on July 14, a pressnote issued by the CEE here today said.
