Central nod likely for sea wall project

By Our Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM June 17. The Water Resources Minister, T. M. Jacob, has said that the Government expected a favourable decision from the Central Government on its Rs. 216-crore project for taking up construction of sea wall off the Kozhikode coast to prevent sea erosion.

Replying to a submission by Mr. A. Sujanapal (Cong.) in the Assembly today, Mr. Jacob said he had discussions with Central officials regarding the proposal in New Delhi on Monday and their response seemed to be positive. The Government, he said, had also sanctioned a Rs. 28.50-crore project for taking up work to prevent sea erosion in the Kozhikode city area.

TELK: The Industries Minister, P.K. Kunhalikutty, told P.J. Joy (Cong.) that the Government did not propose to allow Transformers and Electricals Kerala Limited (TELK) to go into the private sector as had been notified by it through an order issued some days ago.
