An assurance to the effect was given by the AICC general secretary in-charge of the State, Kamal Nath, in a letter to both the TNCC president, S. Balakrishnan, and the working president, E.V.K.S. Elangovan. The State leaders had rushed to the capital following reports quoting Mr. Kamal Nath that Mr. Balakrishnan would soon be replaced and the entire leadership structure revamped.
