While the peak demand of power met dropped to 2,904 MW from 3,269 MW on Tuesday, a number of local faults due to the rain in parts of South, Central and East Delhi resulted in power cuts for hours in several colonies in these parts of the Capital. In fact, in many areas the discoms, in particular the BSES Yamuna Power Limited and BSES Rajdhani Power Limited, has failed miserably in rectifying the fault as power cut has been occurring time and again at the same place. For instance, the historic Town Hall -- headquarters of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi -- which has been experiencing an unprecedented power cuts for the past one week now. Local faults keeps on occurring time and again. "On Wednesday itself when the Standing Committee of the MCD was holding its meeting at the Old Meeting Hall, power went off for at least three times in a period of two hours, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.,'' a senior MCD official said. Residents of the Aravali Apartment in South Delhi complained that they had no electricity since 9 in the morning. "Despite, a number of complaints, we are having no electricity till 6 p.m.,'' alleged Rakesh Kumar, a resident of the Area. Residents of Duggal Colony, Krishna Nagar, Devli Road and Raju Park today experienced a similar situation who complained they were under uninterrupted load-shedding since 5-30 in the morning. "Our patience is giving up. If it continues any longer, we will come on streets,'' said Jagdish Tyagi, who stays in Duggal Colony. Complaints of hours of unscheduled power cuts were received from Narela, Mangolpuri, Loha Mandi, Mayapuri, Rani Bagh, Shakti Nagar, Kamla Nagar, Karol Bagh, East of Kailash, Laxmi Nagar, Sadar Bazaar, Pahar Ganj, Nand Nagri and Tri Nagar. None of the BSES spokespersons were today available for comment and give the reasons for power fault in these areas.
