Several places in Delhi and adjoining Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh received pre-monsoon showers since last evening. IMD officials said the good spell was likely to continue for the next one-two days. Though it was too early to say anything about the monsoon onset over Delhi, if this ``strong system'' persists, Delhi may see an early onset, they added. Delhi usually gets monsoon in the first week of July. Delhi has already recorded a better rainfall this June compared to last year. Reports from Mumbai said a girl was killed in a landslip in suburban Ghatkopar caused by heavy rain. Low-lying areas were inundated and rail and road traffic was paralysed in the state during the morning hours. Farmers in Rajasthan rejoiced as widespread monsoon rain was recorded in Jodhpur, Udaipur and Ajmer. Pre-monsoon showers lashed other parts of the State. Farmers have started preparing for kharif crops, reports said. So far the State has reported four deaths. Several parts of Kerala also experienced heavy rain. Several parts of Madhya Pradesh reported heavy rainfall. PTI
