Addressing a press conference, Mr. Sachin Pilot, who was here in connection with a seminar organised by the Rajesh Pilot Youth Centre, said that he welcomed Priyanka Gandhi Vadhra's plan to enter politics. "Anyone with a clean image is welcome. One should look at a person's ability instead of caste, creed or religion.'' He favoured job reservations for the needy, especially in a country such as India with its divide between the poor and the rich. "What is important with regard to reservations is that it should ensure equitable distribution of opportunity,'' he observed. On banning campus politics, he said that it was his considered opinion that politics on campus was good because it provided political education and awareness to the youngsters. But party leaders should take care not to use them for the petty politics. When asked whether he would be a disciplined rebel like his father, Mr. Pilot said that the media gave the classification, but his father always believed in his own convictions. He expressed concern at the indifference of the youth towards politics. But this trend could be reversed if politics improved in terms of transparency and accountability. Mr. Pilot is a permanent invitee of the Rajesh Pilot Youth Centre. His mother, Rema Pilot, MP, is the chief patron and former Congress MP, A. Charles, its patron. According to the centre chairman, John Benatius, the centre proposes to launch a membership campaign from July 1, followed by a national conference on February 10 next year.
