Curtailed benefits restored

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM JUNE 20. The Government has issued an order restoring the curtailed benefits of the employees.

It provides for among other things the payment of DA and other allowances in addition to basic pay to the new recruits. Those who joined service after January 16, 2002 will start getting them from June 1, 2003.

They will be given notional increment on completion of one year, subject to eligibility.

The order also permits the encashment of a maximum of ten days' earned leave per year.

The period for the restoration of commuted pension has also been reduced from 15 years to 12 years.

The cut-off date of protected teachers of schools will be July 14, 1997 and they will continue to get their salary. They will be absorbed in future vacancies.
