Dalaal Azmi fell in love with her car driver, Khader Basha, and both flew to India about two years ago, but the woman was caught at the Chennai airport having travelled on a fake passport. A case was registered by the airport authorities and they had been attending trial in a Chennai court since then. As the news came to limelight, the couple was offered assistance by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, besides Indian citizenship to her, but the assurances did not materialise, despite a discussion on the issue in Parliament. The couple got married in Cuddapah district and begot a son, Ibrahim, but had to fend for themselves in Dalavaipalle village as no means of livelihood was provided to them from any quarter. Mr. Jayesh Ranjan asked the couple to come to Cuddapah last evening and assured to sanction a loan of Rs. 1.20 lakhs to Khader Basha for purchase of a seven-seater autorickshaw as he knew driving and also to sanction a house for him at Pullampet. Dalaal Azmi who could converse only in Arabic was assured by Mr. Ranjan that she would be provided a private job as Arabic instructor in any Madarasa by contacting those concerned. The Collector also assured grant of Indian citizenship and take up the authorities concerned for dropping of the ongoing case in a Chennai court about her fake passport. He promised to ensure issue of a driving licence to Khader Basha, who had a licence in Kuwait. He urged the couple to meet him on Monday for obtaining the loan, house sanction letter and driving licence.
