Musharraf for restoring cricket ties
London
June 20.
The Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, today said he hoped that India and Pakistan could resume cricket ties.Gen. Musharraf arrived in London on Tuesday, kicking off a four-country tour, and watched Pakistan play against England in a one-day international match at the Oval.``It is unfortunate that we are not playing cricket,'' Gen. Musharraf told Sky Sports. ``Not only is it damaging the cause of cricket around the world, but it is damaging the standard of cricket between the two countries.''
Last Friday, Gen. Musharraf said in a television interview that Pakistan's ``players don't want to play with India.''
Outside of multinational cricket events, Pakistan and India haven't played since Pakistan toured India in 1999.
