Replying to a submission by K. C. Venugopal (Congress), the Chief Minister said the probe had been ordered as sought by the PSC and the secretary had been placed under suspension. The matter was sub judice as a petition seeking an inquiry into the alleged irregularities in sub-inspector recruitment was pending before the High Court, he added. The Industries Minister, P. K. Kunhalikkutty, told the Leader of the Opposition, V. S. Achuthanandan, that the Government would initiate talks with all concerned to revive the ailing industrial units in Palakkad. He also promised to make special efforts to revive the Chittur sugar mills.
