The letter was received in the office of the AIMPLB chairman, Maulana Rabe Hasan Nadwi, the Board's spokesman, Maulana Sajjad Nomani, said here. Mr. Nomani said the proposals would only be opened by Mr. Nadwi, who is at present in Rae Bareilly. After going through the contents of the letter, the Board would consider the proposed formula. The Board's working committee was authorised to take a decision on the Acharya's proposals. Mr. Nomani, however, said that it would take at least 10 days to convene a meeting of the committee since several of its 51 members hailed from outside the State. On the venue of the proposed meeting, he said it could be held either in Lucknow or in New Delhi. Mr. Nomani said the Board ``would not take much time'' in taking a decision on the proposals in the interest of society and the country as a whole. The spokesman said that though the matter was already pending before the Allahabad High Court, there was nothing wrong in considering any worthwhile proposal if it could help resolve the dispute amicably. ``There is a great need to develop a culture for having dialogues for resolving contentious issues rather than opting for confrontationist attitude', he said. The initiation of the dialogue by the Acharya was his own. ``We did not take any initiative, but at the same time we would never fight shy of considering any meaningful proposal by a highly respected Hindu religious head." Asked whether the proposals would be made public before being referred to the Board's working committee, he said any decision in this regard would only be taken by the chairman. He said the Board would ``tread cautiously'' while considering the proposals and consider all aspects before arriving at a decision. On why the Acharya's letter was delayed, Mr. Nomani said the envelope had arrived in Lucknow two days ago but got stuck with the courier company as the address written on it was wrong. ``This morning we received a call from the courier company that a letter addressed to Mr. Nadwi was lying there, he said adding later a representative of the Kanchi math in the State capital was sent there to collect the envelope, which was later delivered to our office.
