Summons to Ponmudi

By Our Special Correspondent

VILLUPURAM June 20. The Villupuram Judicial Magistrate Court-I has sent summons to the former Minister, K.Ponmudi; the Sun TV reporter, G.Suresh, and 12 other DMK functionaries to appear before the court on June 25 for allegedly entering a Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation godown here without permission about two years ago.

To dispute the Government claim that the DMK regime supplied only rotten rice to cardholders and to prove that it stocked fine quality rice for supply under the public distribution system, Mr Ponmudi, accompanied by the Villupuram Municipal Chairman, S.S.Panneerselvam, along with some partymen went to the godown on June 26, 2001 and verified the stocks.

They informed the media about their visit to the godown. Mr. Suresh too had gone there. Showing samples taken from the godown, Mr. Ponmudi asked them to verify for themselves the rice quality.
