One-way system on Vittal Mallya, Lavelle roads

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE June 20. With the traffic density increasing, two more roads in the City being made one-ways. This time, the police have introduced the system on Vittal Mallya and Lavelle roads. A notification issued by the City Police Commissioner, S. Mariswamy, says that these roads have been declared one-way with effect from June 16. However, police said, its implementation would begin on Sunday.

The notification says vehicular movement will be allowed only on the north-south direction on Lavelle Road. It means that the vehicles reaching the St. Mark's Cathedral should go to Richmond Circle via Airlines Hotel and Coffee Day circles. They should not take Lavelle Road from the Richmond Circle side.

On Vittal Mallya Road, movement of vehicles has been banned from its junction with St. Mark's Road to Coffee Day Circle. Vehicles are banned from entering the road from that circle. However, the other stretch of Vittal Mallya Road, from Coffee Day Circle to Siddalingaiah (Tiffany's) Circle, will remain two-way.

There seems to be confusion among the police on the system. The Cubbon Park Traffic Police say that the vehicles taking Lavelle Road would not be allowed to take a left turn near the St. Mark's Cathedral and Airlines Hotel. However, the notification does not speak about it. The notification says that signboards are being erected to guide motorists.
