Paul Grafer, filling in for Tim Howard, had four saves as the MetroStars (6-3-2) snapped a two-game losing streak in a game played in heavy rain at Giants Stadium. Kevin Hartman made 10 saves for the defending MLS Cup champion Galaxy, who fell to 2-5-5. Hartman didn't have a chance on Magee's fourth goal of the season, which came with the MetroStars on a counterattack. Mark Lisi took a pass and then found a wide-open Magee cutting through the box for a one-on-one chance. Magee put his shot into the left side of the net against a helpless Hartman, who was playing for a shot to the right. Grafer made the goal stand, making two good saves on Alex Pineda Chacon in the final 15 minutes. In Washington, Hristo Stoitchkov's first goal as a member of United earned the tie with New England. Stoitchkov, acquired from Chicago in an offseason trade, erased a 1-0 deficit in the 31st minute as United exploited a poor clearing attempt. D.C., deprived of its first two-game winning streak of the season, remained unbeaten (2-0-4) at RFK Stadium. The Revolution is 0-1-1 after a 3-0-2 unbeaten streak. Lifetime at RFK Stadium, New England is 5-10-0. Brian Kamler put Revolution ahead 1-0 in the 24th minute, finishing off a counterattack after D.C. failed on a close-in scoring chance. In Kansas City, Missouri, Preki scored a goal and assisted on three others as the Wizards beat Chicago Fire. Damani Ralph scored the game's first goal in the eighth minute for Chicago (5-3-3), which had a two-game winning streak snapped. Kansas City (5-2-5) then took control as Preki assisted on goals by Jimmy Conrad in the 27th minute, Francisco Gomez in the 33rd minute and Alex Zotinca in the 42nd minute. Ante Razov, the MLS' leading goal scorer, scored his eighth in the 78th minute cutting Kansas City's lead to 4-2. He has five goals in three games. In Southlake, Texas, Jason Kreis' goal in the second minute of first-half stoppage time helped Dallas beat Colorado. Dallas (2-5-3) came into the game with an MLS-low six points, but climbed out of the cellar and dropped the Rapids (2-7-2) into last place in the Western Conference. Oscar Pareja assisted Kreis by crossing him a pass into the right flank, which Kries tapped into the net with his right foot for his sixth goal of the season from about 18 yards away for a 2-1 Dallas lead. Joselito Vaca added an unassisted goal in the 90th minute for the Burn's third goal. Colorado scored first in the 25th minute when John Spencer got his third goal of the season on a penalty kick. In San Jose, California, Jamil Walker and Brian Mullan scored to lead the Earthquakes over Columbus. Western Conference leader San Jose improved to 6-2-3. Columbus, which got a goal from Brian McBride, fell to 4-5-3. Walker scored in the 77th minute after taking a pass from Ian Russell. AP
