The pilgrims told mediapersons here that Pakistani masses gave them a warm welcome and provided them accommodation at Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore. The pilgrims said hundreds of Pakistan nationals had only one question: when would the Indian Government resume rail and road link with Pakistan? Members of Muslims families, whose girls had gone to India after marriage, told the delegation that hundreds of families had applied for visa to visit India.
`Change in attitude'
A Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) member today expressed satisfaction over the improvement in general atmosphere and management of gurdwaras in Pakistan. Talking to reporters after the return of Sikh pilgrims from Pakistan, Sowinder Singh Sabarwal, who led the delegation, said that this time the jatha was accorded a warm welcome everywhere during its visit to the neighbouring country. He said the situation in the gurdwaras and general attitude towards the Sikh shrines were much better, compared to the last visit of the Sikh Jatha to that country. He said the people of Pakistan wanted peace and brotherhood with their Indian counterparts and had showered affection on the visiting Indian pilgrims.
